This is a photo of me leading a climb. What that means is that I’m strapped to a rope that is strapped to a person BELOW me, not above me. As in, if I fall I am not caught by a top rope above me, I fall to the ground. As I climb up I clip a carabiner into a bolt already in the wall and then I yell “CLIPPING!” to the lead belayer below me and he gives me slack in the rope and I clip it into the carabiner. Then I continue to climb up the wall to the next bolt and if I fall this time I fall down to the bolt I’m attached to below + the slack in the rope = 6 or so feet. I made it all the way to the top and didn’t fall once!
This is only one of the incredible things I did on this trip that I never thought I’d be brave enough to do. I feel like a new person.
